My Influences

Sat Jul 8, 2006, 10:03 AM
Hi! Welcome to my non-fan art account! =P

I wasn't going to make any journal entries on this account, but my resolve didn't really last too long. I wanted to make a post that lists artists who have influenced my work.

Joyce Weiland
Betty Goodwin (the image on this page is on frosted mylar. >.> S.E.X.)
Kiki Smith
Robert Motherwell
Ross Bleckner
Attila Richard Lukacs (see "Arbor Vitae" at the bottom specifically, although I do enjoy his skinheads)
Mary Kelly
Edvard Munch
Antoni Tapies
Barb Hunt (one of my old profs. She's awesome.)
Richard Diebenkorn
Jan Winton (Another ex-professor of mine. Can't really ignore the old profs as influences)
Marlene Dumas
Gustav Klimt

I graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. My specialization in fourth year was painting. I now live, work and exhibit my artwork in Toronto, and work in my painting studio (in Palgrave, north of Toronto) on the weekends.

I really enjoyed your work! A lot of the same artists have influenced my work too. Your surfaces are beautiful and I am a sucker for a beautiful surface! Look forward to seeing more.
